Stonefly Technology

Blu Soft® System
Stonefly, market leaders in the fashion/comfort footwear industry are the innovators and sole patent holders of all products that contain BluSoft technology. BluSoft is a special gel insert that is placed into the sole of the shoe. This can be placed in the fore part of the shoe sole, within the shoe heel, or both..

Blu Soft absorbs impact on even the most rigid surfaces, reducing foot fatigue and the risk of injury, while facilitating correct posture. Shock absorption capacity grows by as much as 75%. This inturn reduces the risk of skeletal damage through the micto-traumas inflicted upon the body due to the natural process of walking. The Blu Soft footwear system is patented around the world.
The combination of Blu Soft footwear technology and the inherant artisan footwear design culture within Stonefly has resulted in the fusion of market leading footwear comfort technology being incorporated into ranges of beautifully designed shoes and boots for both men and women

Gore-Tex® Lining

Gore-Tex® lining is used by Stonefly within the winter collection. At Stonefly our philosophy has always been to offer the best possible products to our customers in terms of comfort wearability and contemporary design. The current winter collection offers Stonefly comfort technology with the added bonus of Gore Waterproof Technology for the harshest conditions.  For men we have MILANO GORE, URBAN GORE, EXPLORA GORE and SEASON GORE. Whilst for ladies we have GALAXY GORE, PASEO GORE and HERA GORE

Gore-Tex is a waterproof and breathable membrane laminated to the interior of a shoe or boot, which keeps feet dry and comfortable by allowing perspiration vapor to pass through and out of the footwear. Gore-tex is renowned the world over as the market leading brand for manufacturing waterproof, breathable and windproof technology that can be incorporated into the manufacture of clothing and footwear.

GORE-TEX® fabrics are created by laminating our GORE-TEX® membrane to high-performance textiles, then sealing them with an innovative solution for 100% waterproof protection.

The properties of the GORE-TEX® membrane at a glance:

  • Durably waterproof
  • Very breathable
  • Highly cold resistant
  • Extremely light
  • Resistent to flexing

The secret of GORE-TEX® fabrics lies within its revolutionary bi-component membrane.

The expanded PTFE portion of the membrane contains over 9 billion microscopic pores per square inch. These pores are approximately 20,000 times smaller than a drop of water, but 700 times bigger than a molecule of moisture vapour. So whilst water droplets cannot penetrate the GORE-TEX® membrane, moisture vapour (a gas) can easily escape.

Integrated into the ePTFE structure is an oleophobic, or oil hating substance that allows moisture vapour to pass through, but creates a physical barrier to contaminating substances such as oils, cosmetics, insect repellents and food substances.

The result is a totally waterproof, windproof and breathable membrane.

The holes made by needles in seams may be small, but they can cause leaks. That's why even the most waterproof, breathable, windproof fabric won't keep you dry and comfortable if the seams are not completely sealed.

For absolute weatherproofness, GORE-TEX® products rely on GORE-SEAM® TAPE and MICRO GORE-SEAM® TAPE technologies. These tapes completely seal every tiny hole created by sewing machine needles when GORE-TEX® fabric is made into garments, footwear or gloves.

Narrower and lighter in weight, MICRO GORE-SEAM® TAPE allows for more functional and modern designs with tighter curves.

How does it work?

Subject other technical fabrics to hard use or frequent washing and chances are they will quickly lose effectiveness. Not GORE-TEX® fabrics. They are guaranteed to be completely waterproof, windproof and breathable for the life of the product.

CARE TIPS FOR GORE-TEX® FOOTWEAR
To maintain their performance GORE-TEX® footwear need to be regularly and properly cared for.

DIRT REMOVAL
To clean leather shoes/boots use a brush and luke warm water. For textile shoes/boots use a sponge.

CARE PRODUCTS
No care product can harm the GORE-TEX® membrane. However, fat or oily products such as greasy creams, leather oils or siliconbased products inhibit the breathability of the whole shoe. Any water based product will clean the upper whilst not impairing the breathability.

WATERPROOFING
Waterproofi ng is not necessary for the GORE-TEX® membrane, however applying waterproofi ng or water repellency to the shoe/boot upper can help with the following:

• Offers better dirt repellency
• Avoids the outer material becoming totally soaked
• Provides optimal insulation through dry outer material
• Avoids the water wicking up to the top of the shoe and going inside
